The owner of a VW Passat B7 with a 2.0 TDI CFGB 170 hp engine contacted us. The car had arrived after a third-party DSG6 DQ250 firmware update. The company had been promoting the car, and the bloggers were hyping it up, but the customer was dissatisfied with the DSG performance after the update. The main complaints included artifacts, jerks, and a lack of smoothness and responsiveness. We initially ran diagnostics and discovered that the firmware installed was not for this model, and the DSG coding had been corrupted. We first restored the factory coding and firmware, performed TPI updates, and verified that there were no artifacts. We optimized the transmission performance based on the customer’s wishes. After the update, the car shifted smoothly, responded predictably to throttle inputs, and the hesitation and vibration disappeared.
